A Vow Renewal In Aruba Is The Ultimate In Romance

I’ve been married 19 years. And during that time, I’ve had at least four vow-renewal ceremonies with my husband Bill, as we’ve traveled the world. We re-stated our “I Do’s” on Kaanapali Beach, Maui; on the silky sands in Bermuda; on Regent Seven Seas Voyager while cruising in Europe; and aboard the Paul Gauguin cruise ship in Tahiti. I’ve discovered that when you renew your vows, it reminds you of why you married your spouse in the first place – making for a better marriage. (And with the divorce rate as high as it is, anything that helps your marriage stay intact is a good thing).

That’s one of the things I love about travel – it takes you to new heights (especially when you’re there with someone you really love).

Whether you have been in love for five, 15, or 50 years, there is no better backdrop for a romantic getaway than Aruba. For the third year in a row, the romantic island is inviting couples to renew their commitment at the Caribbean’s largest Vow Renewal. This year’s ceremony will be held Wednesday, August 21, 2019 on Eagle Beach, recently voted 2019 Trip Advisor’s Traveler’s Choice Awards Third-Best-Beach in the World. The ceremony is free to all couples.

As the sun sets over Eagle Beach, couples will recommit their love under twinkling lights and romantic décor inspired by Aruba’s Destination Weddings. The couples, as well as their family and friends, will celebrate the special night with champagne, local hors d’oeuvres, and local music. Couples can pre-register to attend the Vow Renewal by visiting aruba.com/i-do and can book a love-inspired vacation package from more than 15 on-island hotel partners.

Last year, more than 200 couples renewed their vows.  The ceremony décor is Caribbean chic – with tropical decorations, and a chic ambience. A series of floral arches make for picture-perfect moments. Following the ceremony, a Caribbean Carnival celebration is held, with dancers, live music, a champagne toast, and hors d’oeuvres served atop white-linen tables with pops of vibrant Caribbean colors. Couples receive a flower to hold and a flower crown to wear – all the better to enjoy Caribbean-inspired cocktails and snacks.

“Aruba is excited to welcome our happy couples for the Third Annual Vow Renewal on the beautiful Eagle Beach,” said Ronella Tjin Asjoe-Croes, CEO of the Aruba Tourism Authority. “Our One Happy Island provides romantic experiences for all couples to enjoy including great beaches, relaxing spas, and special island adventures.”

New this year, Aruba is launching a search for the couple with the most romantic or unusual love story, who will win a trip to celebrate their love during the third Annual Vow Renewal on Wednesday, August 21, 2019.

Starting today, family and friends can enter the contest online at aruba.com/us/i-do-contest with a written essay between 200 and 500 words and photo or video that creatively showcases the couple and why they want to renew their wedding vows in Aruba. The winning couple will be celebrated as VIP guests at Aruba’s Third Annual Vow Renewal, receiving a getaway trip to Aruba and the opportunity to renew their vows at Eagle Beach.

At the Ritz-Carlton, for example, the $389 package includes overnight accommodations, breakfast, couples massage and sunset sail.

As one of the most revisited destinations in the Caribbean, Aruba is an island of contradictions, where pristine turquoise waters collide against the desert-like terrain of the north shore; where peace and relaxation coexist with wild and rugged adventures; where Dutch influence meets American ease; and where a diverse history parallels a bright future. Located outside of the hurricane belt, the island is just a two-and-a-half-hour flight from Miami and a four-hour flight from New York City, and boasts year-round cooling trade winds and an average 82-degree temperature. Aruba offers beach lovers, adrenaline junkies, relaxation seekers and everyone in between a slice of paradise, including breathtaking beaches, a booming culinary scene, world-famous festivals and events, exciting land and water activities, art galleries and museums, sumptuous spas, championship golf and exclusive shopping. With all-inclusive options, boutique properties in charming Eagle Beach, high-rise branded resorts in Palm Beach or cosmopolitan city hotels in Oranjestad, the island of contradictions provides the perfect getaway for first-time guests and loyal visitors.

So – get out there and get yourself a beautiful white outfit for the occasion. When you say “I Do,” the second time around, it’s twice as nice.
